Established within Publika Mall in Solaris Dutamas, The Red Beanbag is the perfect place to recharge and find solace after a long day of shopping. The best thing about this modern contemporary café is the fact that it serves wholesome breakfasts available all day, alongside other western dishes.
If you’re wondering what to try when visiting The Red Beanbag, we suggest the Benedict III with beef bacon layered on a portobello mushroom, kale, thick French toast topped with hollandaise sauce and two poached eggs. All it takes are gentle bites to experience that savoury burst of flavour with a hint of tartness. Spice up your choice by choosing The Kraken, made from squid ink spaghetti, grilled whole squid and spicy cream sauce. The squid on its own was the star of the dish as it was soft, tender and had a slight smoky taste from the grilling.
Savour salmon in an unconventional way with the Sunny Salmon, where salmon fish cake is accompanied by a carrot rösti, sautéed mushrooms, ikura, pomegranate seeds and topped with a poached egg and hollandaise sauce. Slice into the dish like a birthday cake and be met with lovely oozing egg yolk, moist fish cake and some sweetness from the pomegranate seeds. However, dessert lovers might want to try the Lamington French Toast, an inspiration from the Australian Lamington. The florally-plated dish of desiccated coconut coated brioche Frenchtoast with strawberry filling, matcha crumble, coconut mascarpone and strawberries might look too pretty to eat but the sugary goodness will have you going in for seconds or even thirds.
When it comes to actual desserts, people tend to say “there’s always room for desserts” – and it’s true with The Red Beanbag’s Avocado ice cream. Indulge in homemade avocado ice cream on brownie chunks, honeycomb and Nutella fudge sauce. The ice cream on its own is creamy, thick and dense, almost like eating cake. But when combined with the brownie chunks and honeycomb, the dish becomes cohesive, flawless and had us scraping the bowl for more. The cosy and quiet eatery is a place fit for all as the extensive menu offers one of every kind, so rejoice food enthusiasts.
