In Iraga “Injap Beralih Arah”, Awang Damit Ahmad constructs a forceful composition around a pale central field marked by fractured black lines, vigorous strokes and flashes of red and ochre. The loosely defined forms appear to collide and shift across the surface, creating a sense of interruption and changing direction, while the contrasting areas of dense pigment and exposed ground give the work a raw visual immediacy.
At an imposing 183 x 183 cm, the square format allows these competing gestures to unfold on a monumental scale. Sharp linear passages cut through heavier, darker areas of paint, while the vivid red accents punctuate the composition and draw the eye across the canvas. The result is an intense, highly charged work in which structure and disorder are held in constant tension.
