In Sailing, Sharifah Fatimah creates a dynamic composition through sweeping gestures, layered textures and sharply contrasting passages of blue, red and white. The intersecting forms appear to surge diagonally across the surface, giving the work a strong sense of momentum and suggesting the movement of a vessel cutting through wind and water.
Despite its abstract language, the composition carries an unmistakable feeling of movement and direction. Areas of dense colour are balanced by lighter, open passages, creating a rhythm that feels both energetic and controlled. The result is a visually spirited work in which colour, line and texture come together to evoke the sensation of a journey in motion.
