Jalaini Abu Hassan presents a solitary figure weighed down by an imposing load, transforming a simple act of carrying into a powerful meditation on human struggle and endurance. Rendered in bitumen and mixed media, the figure emerges through expressive lines, earthy tones and richlyweathered textures, giving the work a raw, almost visceral presence. The bowed posture and downward gaze evoke exhaustion, yet also quietresilience. Through this compelling image, Jalaini reflects on the burdens carried not only by individuals, but by humanity as a whole.

This work is illustrated on page 93 of Jalaini Abu Hassan: Chronology – A Collection of Masterpieces from 1988–2024, presented by KLAS in its 2024 exhibition.
