His paintings, characterized by layers of colour and texture, invite viewers to delve into a world of introspection and contemplation. Pastel hues sweeps across the canvas for Mohd Khairul Izham’s ‘Di Pinggir Kota, 2019’ piece. A closer observance reveals the artist’s favourite themes – trees, butterflies and dragonflies to name a few. Interlaid between these motifs are drawings of both mundane and interesting items such as a king’s crown, mechanical rat, a top, China vase, tea pot, a throne and many more. His brushes of colour create rough silhouettes in an expressionistic manner with details, contours and crevices accurately captured.
