Created in 1981, Postcard to the World is one of Awang Damit Ahmad’s earliest and most significant print works, reflecting his engagement with humanitarian and socio-political issues before his celebrated abstract series. Inspired by the tragic bombing of Palestinian civilians in Beirut, the work serves as a powerful visual statement against the horrors of war and the suffering of innocent lives. Rather than a mere political commentary, the print is a universal call for compassion, peace, and shared humanity. Rarely encountered on the market, this early print offers an important glimpse into the formative years of one of Malaysia’s foremost contemporary artists.
