A captivating example of Ong Kim Seng’s celebrated Nepal paintings, Nepal captures the distinctive atmosphere and character of the Himalayan region through the artist’s masterful handling of light, colour and detail. His fluid watercolour technique brings the scene to life with remarkable freshness, reflecting his fascination with Nepal’s landscapes, architecture and people.
Born in Singapore in 1945, Ong Kim Seng is a self taught artist and one of Asia’s most acclaimed watercolourists. He became a full time artist in1985 and was awarded Singapore’s prestigious Cultural Medallion for Visual Arts in 1990. That same year, he became the first Asian outside the United States to be admitted to the American Watercolour Society, later receiving its distinguished Dolphin Fellowship. His many journeys to Nepal inspired an important body of work and helped establish his international reputation.
A fine example of the lyrical, atmospheric watercolours for which Ong Kim Seng is renowned.
