Influenced by the flowing biomorphic forms of nature, Mustapa Ibrahim incorporated organic shapes into his images. The undulating planes resemble microscopic organisms, and also express the essence or spirit of the universe. By using free flowing lines and bright gradations of colour, the artist succeeds in creating a sense of vitalism and movement.
Mustapa Ibrahim enrolled in Gombak Lane School, Selangor in 1951, and Maxwell Secondary School, Kuala Lumpur in 1964. He attended art classes with Mazeli Mat Som, A.P.S, and was a member of the Kumpulan Anak Alam. He held his first solo exhibition at British Council Kuala Lumpur in 1973.
