In Datuk Yusof Ghani’s Siri Tari (1992), the composition dissolves the human anatomy into a flurry of abstract, energetic brushstrokes, where skeletal lines and frenetic gestures evoke the rhythmic yet turbulent nature of dance. Dominated by a muddy palette of deep blues, ochres, and muted greens, the piece is punctuated by sharp, fiery bursts of orange and red that hint at a passionate, inner friction. Through these aggressive, layered marks and swirling lines, Ghani transforms the traditional dance into a powerful allegory for struggle, survival, and the profound social anxieties of contemporary life.
