Maamor Jantan is a Malaysian artist known for his watercolour paintings of landscapes, village scenes, and everyday life. Born in 1961, he started his career as a machinist before working as a curator’s assistant and eventually pursuing art full time. Jantan’s work is characterized by its vibrant colours and detailed depictions of rural Malaysian life. He is considered one of the most prominent contemporary Malaysian artists. Maamor has an unconventional approach to art; he employs a unique style of using delicate tones of blotched and bleached colours and pairs it with his deep fondness for kampung scenes.
