The Shangri-La Golden Sands Resort Penang, is one of Penang’s rand dames of hotel, perched proudly on Batu Feringgi beach. The established resort allures with its family-friendly al, the sea as its backyard and its multifaceted recreational activities which include a water sports centre, three tennis courts, a Par-3 Executive Golf Course, a spa and beauty centre as well as two lagoon-shaped swimming pools.
ROOMS
The 387 guest rooms are given a tropical sprucing of wooden carved panels with sea-kelp designs and embellished with an Asian touch. Clean lines and calming shades of the room are in keeping with its picturesque surrounds. Travelling with a Full House-like family doesn’t prove a challenge for Golden Sands Resort, seeing as it boasts ‘family combo’ units of two interconnecting rooms that can easily accommodate up to six persons. Besides that, 14 suites and 208 deluxe sea-view rooms provide the pinnacle in resort living. While the rooms or slices of heaven provide a respite from the metropolitan bustle, it doesn’t take you away from modern-day facilities such as LED TV, DVD player, satellite TV channels, USB/ iPod/modem, ports in a user-friendly AV panel and free broadband Internet access.
SPLASH ZONE
Kids can have a wonderful time at The Golden Sands Resort, Penang. At the Splash Zone, children can have fun and adventure in the form of two water slides, complete with a landing pool, and a splash pad with tipping water bucket, water cannons, a rainbow sprayer, a butterfly and turtle sprayer, and a floor water jet. Carefully designed with safety in mind, the splash area has an anti-slip surface that allows children to interact easily with new friends without the fear of getting hurt. All the pool facilities throughout the resort employ a special technologically-advanced water management system that keeps water in its natural condition, making it suitable for all guests, including children.
SIGI’S BAR AND GRILL
After a fun-filled day at the pool or exploring, settle down at Sigi’s Bar & Grill, an Italian restaurant nestled at the beach. Cosy up to a loved one with some sundowners in hand and revel in the amazing atmosphere, as the sun sets. The fare at Sigi’s is as good as the view, offering authentic Italian cuisine that spans a selection of antipasti, homemade pastas, authentic Italian meats, fish dishes and delectable desserts. From the bar comes an impressive collection of premier wines andcreative cocktails while the signature out-of-this- world Mojito makes a nice digestif. Choose the Upper Deck with an elevated view or the outdoor seating next to the beach for a wholesome experience.
SHANGRI-LA GROUP GIVES BACK DURING
COVID-19
Shangri-La Group, together with Diversey, a leading global hygiene and cleaning company along with local NGOs have teamed up to provide Malaysia’s most vulnerable face masks, a necessity for all during this global pandemic.
Amassing 12,500 kg of used, clean bedsheets, duvet covers and pillowcases, to NGOs, these have been repurposed into reusable fabric for 3-ply face masks. The six of the group’s hotels in Malaysia are looking to contribute up to 80,000 reusable face masks for communities in need during this period, with the support of NGOs in Penang, Kota Kinabalu and Johor Bahru.
Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa, Golden Sands Resort by Shangri-La and Hotel JEN, Penang in collaboration with WHY LovingCare, will distribute reusable fabric masks to schools and orphans on the island.
