A Foodie’s Guide to Mont Kiara

Curated by a foodie, for a foodie. Read on to learn about the myriad of eateries we love and appreciate at the Mont Kiara locale. Enjoy!

Kopenhagen Coffee continues to bring you Hygge, this time, to your doorstep. Known for its stellar coffee and wholesome fare, this Danish cafe has introduced a new section to its menu — smørrebrød, a classic lunch and staple in Danish households. These open-faced sandwiches spectacularly balance an array of toppings that sit atop house-baked rye bread, packed with fibre and healthy grains. It has derived three ways to kick start your morning routine and strengthen the immune system.

Many pizza aficionados swear by Proof Pizza + Wine. So, we had to check the hubbub for ourselves. Having tried it, we can honestly say the pizzas here have won us over with its crispy and chewy base and subtle smokiness. Should you happen to try the pizzas here for yourself, order the crowd favourite – Umbrian Black Truffle Pizza or the Summer Black Truffles. This is the height of indulgence, boasting generous mixed mushrooms, black truffle paste and taleggio. Even if you’re not a truffle fan, we have a feeling you will be converted. Pair it with a glass of red and allow the play of flavours to tickle your palate.

From the brains behind El Mesón and Lisette’s cafe comes its latest sister restaurant, Café Deli. This little deli is relaxed, offering al fresco and indoor seating. While the core at Café Deli by El Meson remains authentically Spanish, it is supplemented by an enticing bakery counter offering various pastries and danish, local and western favourites. Pork is still a highlight at this restaurant, with plenty of plant-based options too. It serves as a relaxed spot for indulging and people watching.

After an electrifying workout at the Fire Station, refuel your body with some nutritious and equally scrumptious fare at Kettlebell. Tucked next to the boutique gym, this café makes for a cosy nook to settle in and do some work or to just enjoy a good cuppa. Its outdoor area is said to be especially comfy to sit and dine at while watching the world go by.

Patronised by many for its rustic, homey desserts, Jaslyn Cakes is a name sweared by many sweet tooths. The second outpost in Mont Kiara is relatively bigger than its flagship in Bangsar, boasting an al-fresco seating area. The similarities that remain, however, are the luxurious, simply delicious desserts and the laidback ambience. Our personal favourite here is the Lemon Drizzle Butterloaf.
