A brilliant and commanding composition from Datuk Yusof Ghani’s celebrated Segerak series, Emerging is an arresting study in shades of green. Across its expansive square canvas, rhythmic forms appear to surge, overlap and emerge from within the picture plane, creating a captivating sense of movement and energy. The layered greens give the work an organic, almost otherworldly presence, while the fluid gestures reveal the artist’s distinctive mastery of colour, rhythm and abstraction.

Johor-born Datuk Yusof Ghani is one of Malaysia’s foremost contemporary artists. Best known for his expressive figurative and abstract series, ncluding Siri Tari, Siri Topeng, Siri Wayang and Siri Segerak, his works explore movement, human emotion and the complexities of contemporary life. At an impressive 200 × 200 cm, Emerging is a visually commanding work and a notable example of Yusof Ghani’s distinctive abstract language.
