Born in Kulim, Kedah, in 1962, Rafiee Ghani graduated in Fine Art from Institut Teknologi MARA before obtaining a Master of Fine Arts in Printmaking from Manchester Polytechnic, England. A respected painter, printmaker and educator, he is celebrated for his expressive use of colour and poetic landscapes, with works held in major public and private collections in Malaysia.
