Eric Quah is known for his innovative use of mixed media and collage to explore social, political, and cultural themes. His works often combine found materials, text, and imagery to create visually dynamic compositions that engage with contemporary issues and historical events.
Created in 1993, Breaking (Berlin Wall) and Make Love Not Wall reflect Quah’s response to one of the defining political moments of the late twentieth century namely the fall of the Berlin Wall and the symbolic triumph of freedom over division. Through layered collage elements, expressive mark making, and juxtaposed imagery, the artist examines themes of liberation, human connection, and the dismantling of physical and ideological barriers.

Both works embody Quah’s distinctive artistic language, where mixed media becomes a vehicle for social commentary and reflection. Rich in symbolism and historical resonance, these compositions stand as compelling reminders of the universal desire for unity, peace, and understanding in a world often shaped by separation and conflict.
