Emerging as one of the most promising voices in contemporary Malaysian art, Muhammad Izzuddin Basiron has developed a distinctive visual language rooted in his fascination with urban landscapes, architecture, and the transformative effects of modernisation. A graduate of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), the Selangor born artist is known for translating the complexities of the built environment into vibrant geometric compositions that balance structure with imagination. His growing reputation was further cemented when he was recognised among the 13 Best Artists in the Malaysia Emerging Artist Award (MEAA).
Created in 2023, P belongs to a significant period in the artist’s development, coinciding with his increasing exploration of abstraction and spatial reconstruction. Exhibited as part of The Project Room showcase at KL Lifestyle Art Space, the work exemplifies Basiron’s ongoing investigation into form, place, and visual memory. What distinguishes Basiron’s practice is his ability to merge the precision of geometry with the emotive power of colour. In P, the canvas becomes a site where structure and spontaneity coexist, revealing the artist’s fascination with both the physical realities and psychological impressions of contemporary spaces. The result is a work that transcends representation, offering instead an evocative meditation on the visual language of modern life.
