What The Year of the Pig Has in Store for You

BY HIRANMAYII AWLI MOHANAN

We just finished the merriments for the new year and, it’s already Chinese New Year now.

According to the Chinese zodiac calendar, 2019 is the Year of the Pig. This essentially suggests

that the new year will encapsulate the nature of the pig—sturdy, determined, generous—in

a way that is more grounded. Based on the Chinese fortune calendar, 2019 sees a steady

increase in wealth and more room for growth compared to 2018. Find out what the Year of the

Pig has in store for the other zodiacs below.

1. RAT

The Year of the Rat succeeds the Year of the Pig in 2020. In 2019, Rat will fare quite well. According to ChineseFortuneCalendar.com, the Rat and Pig make successful partners in more ways than one. They complement and help each other in both business and social settings. The Rat provides keen intellect while the Pig provides reliability and the ability to follow through with action.

2. OX OR BUFFALO

The Ox and Pig are actually quite similar, these animals are both sturdy and reliable. The major difference between the two, however, is that the Ox can sometimes be a little too strong-willed or stubborn. The Yea of the Pig is said to be a fortunate one for the Ox, so long as the Ox is able to keep its strength in check. Consider all decisions carefully.

3. TIGER

One of the most perfect romantic matches for the Pig is the Tiger, states TravelChinaGuide.com. Hence, 2019 could see the Tiger’s love life and personal relationships flourish. The feisty character of the Tiger could be humbled by the Earth Pig, though, so expect some learning curve this year.

4. RABBIT

Rabbits share the same gentle, kind-hearted nature that Pigs possess. They only differ in terms of level of intellect and finesse. The Rabbit is agile and skilful, and will be able to navigate the Year of the Earth Pig with ease. This Chinese zodiac sign will have a fulfilling and successful 2019.

5. DRAGON

The Year of the Earth Pig will provide a stable backdrop for the Dragon to prosper. Because the Year of the Earth Pig has a relative calm about it, the excitable and fierce Dragon will be able to shine through spectacularly. According to ChineseFortuneCalendar.com, 2019 will bring tremendous career and monetary success. Of course it’s one thing to come across money, another to hold onto it. A clever way to build your savings account is to pretend you never had some of your money in the first place.

6. SNAKE

In Chinese astrology, snakes and pigs care contrasting. There is always tension between the two Chinese zodiac signs on virtually every level. While 2019 will be a prosperous year in general, the snake will have to overcome obstacles at nearly every turn before finally earning their reward.

7. HORSE

Like many of the other Chinese zodiac signs, the horse will have a fine time of it in 2019. The same kind of advice given to the ox can also be given to the horse. Horses can become giddy and self-centred, so keep calm and balanced as the Year of the Earth Pig requires it.

8. GOAT OR SHEEP

Akin to the tiger, the goat aligns very well with the pig in terms of romantic connection. Pigs and goats share the same loving, gentle nature. Relationships will flourish this year for the Goat. Still, people under this Chinese zodiac sign can be emotionally temperamental at times, and it won’t be wise to do so.

9. MONKEY

Pigs dislike monkeys as much as they dislike snakes, but for different reasons altogether. The monkey is far too chaotic for the steadfast pig, who enjoys stability over restless energy. While the Earth Pig demands patience, the Monkey has none. This is why 2019 will have the monkey reflect for the first time in a while, and make room the opportunity for personal growth.

10. ROOSTER

Roosters will thrive in 2019. The year of the Earth Pig delivers the stability the rooster needs to get off the ground, especially financially.2019 will give these people the solid ground they need to build their empires, which the hardworking, diligent Rooster is naturally good at accomplishing.

11. DOG

If you were born in a Year of the Dog, you are most likely exiting a challenging 2018. While life will improve in the Year of the Earth Pig, you will still have to work hard to change your fortunes. Instant change will not happen this year because it’s more of a gradual shift.

12. PIG

Contrary to popular belief, the Year of the Pig will not be a good one for those with the pig sign. In Chinese astrology, your own year is more often than not your worst year. Go figure! All you can do in 2019 is remain steadfast and persevere through the challenges and patiently wait till it’s your time to prosper.
