Khalil’s preference for the human figure has led him to create numerous batik works of iconic images of men and women in the East Coast Malay fishing villages. Khalil Ibrahim’s Memories 5 is a distinguished piece of artwork measuring 90 x 72 cm which exemplifies Ibrahim’s mastery in the batik medium, showcasing his signature lyrical lines and harmonious colour palettes. The composition reflects his deep connection to Malaysian life and culture, often portraying themes of community and daily routines.
Throughout his long career, which spans over 50 years, Khalil has held a number of solo and group exhibitions in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Switzerland. His masterful skills in drawing, watercolour and acrylic, are in styles that move from the almost real to the almost abstract.
