The Relay For Life 2010 by the National Cancer Society of Malaysia was back again with Datuk Yasmin Yusuff getting her fellow friends from the entertainment industry to pledge and join the 16-hour walkathon. It was a high-spirited event where everyone in the community joined in the fight against cancer.
It is a time each year when people you know and people you don’t know team up to raise public awareness cancer in the community and to raise funds to find the cure. To participate in Relay For Life, you recruit friends, family, co-workers and neighbours to join you in a Relay team. In the weeks leading up to the event, each team member raises money by collecting pledges. On Relay Day, team members take turns walking around the track to ensure that someone is on the track at all times.
This year as usual, Yasmin got a number of celebrities to pledge money and participate in the relay. The registration for the celebrities took place in front of The Dome at Bangsar Shopping Complex on May 20. Stars like Daphne Iking, Hans Issac and Jaclyn Victor were among those who registered for the relay which took place from 6pm on May 29, to 10am on May 30, at the MSN Training Stadium, Bukit Jalil.
Hats off to Yasmin for her wonderful contribution to society.
