“Sazzy has always been a headstrong and rebellious girl since young.
She was always asking questions about everything. She was very active as well. I remember her running up and down a flight of stairs in our then house numerous times each day. Just watching her got me tired,” reminisced Lilly Rahim, Sazzy’s mother.

Sitting opposite mother and daughter at their favourite restaurant, Alexis at Bangsar Shopping Complex, one could see where Sazzy got her good looks from. Looking more like her older sister, Lilly is an epitome of elegance and beauty. She is also a very down to earth and independent woman who let Sazzy spread her wings and fly when it came to choosing her career.

“The most sound advice that my mum had given me was to save money. She taught me to be independent and be my own person.

This I have followed, managing my money well by myself,” said Sazzy about her mother’s teachings.
“I’ve got three children and when they were born, I started a savings account for them where I deposited money every month. All their ‘duit raya’ and birthday cash went into the account as well.

I have that account with me until now and I will give the money to them the moment they know how difficult it is to earn money, because I know that the money will be put into good use then,” said Lilly who is a businesswoman. For Sazzy, her mum is her best friend and confidante whom she can have fun as well as share her deepest thoughts with. Her mother always stuck by her during bad times.

“Actually, we always stood by each other. Mum is a balanced person. Growing up, she was strict with me, but cool and understanding as well. She juggled work and family well and now that I’m married I adopt her style and ways when I run my household and career,” said Sazzy when asked about her relationship with her mother.
‘’We don’t do anything extraordinary on Mother’s Day as I feel blessed every day, having her as my mum. We usually hang out, have dinner and do something fun as a family on this day. It’s a riot when the whole family gets together,” said Sazzy about their Mother’s Day celebration.

The one thing that tickles Sazzy till today is a scenario which took place years ago, when she told her mother she would never be like her, after a small argument.
“Mum just laughed and said, ‘a child wants to be like her mother when she is a kid. Once a teenager, she does not want to be like her mother but when she gets older, she becomes like her mother.’ Hearing that, I screamed. ‘Nooooo! that will never happen to me.’ But today I see a lot of Lilly Rahim’s character in me,” said Sazzy proudly.
Well said, Sazzy but this is a trait that can be seen in each of us. Wishing all mothers, a Happy Mother’s Day and thank you for being the best.

Similarities between Sazzy and her mother.

  • They are both connected to the entertainment industry. Lilly is an ex- model.
  • They both enjoy reading and they love Judith McNaught’s novels. They would love Almost Heaven to be made into a movie.
  • They both love coffee, cili padi, Japanese food and ‘sambal ikan bilis’.
  • Their favourite destination is the Safari Park in Tanzania, Africa followed by Egypt.
  • They are both neat people who are always cleaning their homes.
  • Last but not least, they love spending time with each other, just talking. Well, what can you say, it’s a girl’s thing!
