A Gentlement Tour
For thousands of Ne-Yo fans in Malaysia, Jan 7 was a date to remember as they watched their beloved singer perform live on stage at Sunway Lagoon Surf Beach.
The concert began with a performance by local jazz songstress Najwa Mahiaddin. Then, though it was a hot and humid night, the fans erupted in a frenzy when the singer-songwriter took the stage at about 9pm.
Accompanied by his troop of energetic dancers, the 30-year-old entertainer delivered a slick and stylish performance. Dressed in black shirt and white pants and his signature fedora hat, he wooed the crowd with songs such as Sexy Love, Lie To Me, Because of You and Never Knew I Needed among many others.
True to his gentlemanly ways, he dedicated 10 minutes for his band to pay a tribute to the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson, performing clips of songs such as Wanna Be Starting Something, Thriller, Bad and Man in the Mirror.
He also sang chart breakers he wrote for singers such as Rihanna (Unfaithful) and Beyonce (Irreplaceable) and Mario (You Should Let Me Love You), which got the crowd all pumped up for more of the smooth crooner’s tunes.
As the crowd chanted for his encore, he returned to the stage and performed Closer and drove the crowd wild. All in all, it was an absolutely fabulous night, which he promises will not be his last in Malaysia. And on behalf of all his ardent fans, we certainly hope this is true!
